A petition has been filed in the Jaffna Court on behalf of affected teachers by President’s Counsel M.A. Sumanthiran, representing the Ceylon Teachers’ Union, against the Northern Provincial Department of Education for arbitrarily deciding to transfer 290 teachers under the category of “transfers based on service needs” without providing any data, effective from 01.01.2026.
In relation to this petition, it was submitted in court today at around 2.00 PM by President’s Counsel M.A. Sumanthiran, and the case has been accepted by the court.
Based on this, the date for the hearing has been scheduled for 10.11.2025.
