One of body was discovered yesterday morning (Monday, 10th) in the premises of the St. Anthony’s Church in mannar, located along the Mannar–Jaffna main road.
The deceased has been identified as Mr. John Quinras, aged 60, the former Director of Education for the Northern Province and former Director of Sri Lanka Education Publications Department.
Reports indicate that he had visited the church area in his vehicle on Monday morning and is believed to have passed away while there.
Upon discovering the body, church Staff informed the Illuppaikkadavai Police, who visited the scene and conducted an initial inspection. The Mannar Inquirer into Sudden Deaths, Mr. B. Prabanandan, also arrived and examined the body.
The remains were later transferred to the Mannar District General Hospital for further procedures and have since been handed over to the family today.
