Pakistan’s Army Chief steps in to protect Sri Lankan Cricket Team in Pakistan..!

Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, has assured full security to the visiting Sri Lankan cricket team, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Thursday. The assurance came after Sri Lankan officials raised concerns following recent security incidents in Islamabad. Naqvi said the matter was personally discussed with Sri Lankan leaders.

Naqvi added that the Sri Lankan President directly contacted Pakistani authorities, and both sides reviewed security arrangements in detail. The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that the visiting team’s safety concerns had been addressed comprehensively by Pakistan’s leadership, including the army chief.

The Interior Minister praised Sri Lanka’s decision to continue the tour, calling it a demonstration of courage and trust in Pakistan. He noted that recent terrorist activities in Islamabad were traced back to Afghanistan, highlighting ongoing regional security challenges.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar told the Senate that Sri Lanka had assured Pakistan of full support in the fight against terrorism. The Senate unanimously passed a resolution commending Sri Lanka for its solidarity and bravery in continuing the cricket tour.

Naqvi thanked the Senate for approving the resolution, emphasizing that it reflected deep friendship and mutual respect between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The cricket tour will proceed under strict security arrangements to ensure players’ safety.
